Information collection and use
Except where information is specifically required when completing copyright licensing application forms, this website does not store or capture personal information but merely logs the user’s IP address, which is automatically recognised by the web server.
This website does not use cookies for collecting user information from the site and we will not collect any information about you except that required for system administration of the web server.
Copyright licensing application forms
OQPS collects personally identifiable information when you complete an application form for a licence to re-use Crown or Parliamentary copyright material. OQPS will use this information to maintain a list of those companies and individuals who are licensed to re-use Crown or Parliamentary copyright materials.
OQPS will not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to anyone.
OQPS will send personally identifiable information about you to other government departments, companies or people when:
- We have your consent to share the information;
- We need to send the information to government departments whose materials you wish to re-use;
- We respond to court orders or other legal processes; or
- Where we are required by law to provide information to others (e.g. the Inland Revenue)
Summary of terms
Browser
Used to locate and display Web pages via a software application. The most popular ones are Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.

Message given to a web browser by a web-server. The message is then stored by the browser in a text file called cookie.txt. All networks connected to the internet speak IP, the technical standard which allows data to be transmitted between two devices. TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) is responsible for making sure messages get from one host to another and that the messages are understood.
