4.1 Crown bodies and NDPBs have responsibilities for providing information in relation to the complete bibliographic record of United Kingdom Official Publications. For details see OPSI’s Guidance Note 17.
4.2 The Information Asset Register (IAR) details Government information assets that can be re-used under licence. The IAR focuses primarily on unpublished data holdings and provides a guide to the unpublished information resources held by public authorities. The IAR identifies what information an authority holds and how to access it. For further information about the Information Asset Register and links with Publication Schemes, see OPSI’s Guidance Note 18.
4.3 Reference to an authority’s Information Asset Register should be in each Publication Scheme and forms an important part of the preparations for freedom of information. Each authority is responsible for creating its records within its own asset register.
